Villa di Vetrice
Luogo di nascita di un’idea, la cui storia ebbe inizio secoli fa e continua tuttora ad essere scritta per creare dei vini e degli oli di altissima qualità.
On the rooftop of Tuscany
It’s as easy as a Tuscan morning: You leave Florence, drive east a few miles and suddenly a whole new world opens up before you – the hills of Chianti Rufina. Near Rufina you discover the vineyards of Villa di Vetrice. In the midst of vineyards, olive groves and cypresses stands a superb 13th-century lookout tower, at the foot of which estate houses are nestled into the landscape. The villa, with a history that reaches all the way back to the 13th century, is the heart of it, and a place where an unparalleled product is created. Pressing exceptional grapes and producing first-class wines, watching them mature and sending them out into the world is a big responsibility. For six generations now, the hills of Villa di Vetrice have been cultivated by vintners who are passionate about this tradition and the responsibility that comes with it.
It gets cooler up here in the hills where Villa di Vetrice is located, and the landscape is more demanding. The altitudes are high, but the lime marl soils are extremely fertile and the wines that come from this region are elegant and complex. The nature is a challenge and the work strenuous – but it is worth it: Grapes of a remarkable quality grow here. If you enjoy Tuscany, you will have a very special appreciation of Chianti Rufina.
